Turtle Brownies

1 cup butter
4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons Hershey’s chocolate syrup
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups Nestle Toll House chocolate chips
25-30 caramels cut into quarters

Preheat oven to 350º.  Grease a 9x13x2 pan – set aside.  In a 2-quart saucepan combine butter and unsweetened chocolate. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until melted (4-6 minutes) and cool slightly.  Stir in sugar, flour, eggs, and syrup.  Spread into prepared pan.  Sprinkle chocolate chips, pecans and caramel pieces over top.  Press lightly into mixture.  Bake for 25-30 min. or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan.  (Do not over bake).  Cool completely.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
